April Lockhart
April Lockhart is a born July 4th, 1995. As a seventh-grade student, she started taking guitar lessons and piano lessons. It was this that ignited her love for songwriting. At the age of 12 April wrote her first song Different. At 14 years old, April was spending a lot of time writing songs and honed her music skills. The songwriting began along with her dad and her dad in NY and LA soon after. April also added additional themes to the track "Take My Hand" for a few of her the friends she had who struggled with concerns like peer pressure problems, as well as teens who committed suicide. Lockhart collaborates with famous Clean Beauty brand Ilia and is also an influencer in the lifestyle industry with her own growing following. Lockhart was born with no left hand, and it's part of her story, but it's hardly her whole story. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her handicap. But it also doesn't make it a point to emphasize it. What's the message? The message? We each contain multitudes, that our identity and physical selves are not all that appear. Lockhart states in the video Lockhart via video "I do not believe that disability will define my character. My goal is not to be an influencer on disability, because I've many more things to contribute." It doesn't impact my daily routine. I go about the same way as I always do and have developed my own ways to adapt. It's a big part of my life, so it is important that we talk about it. Lockhart's self-acceptance journey is one that can last an entire lifetime. She has been a source of inspiration for this purpose. Yet, she confesses to going through periods that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance and wearing clothing which displayed her arms. She dresses according to her preferences and posts photos of herself dressed in outfits she chooses on social media. One of the keys to self-love for her is that it's not an end destination. This is true for everyone, regardless of their insecurity. It is important to have people around you who are aware of and understand you. They'll be the ones to ask you: What do you think about?
