Richard B. Cheney a prominent public servant and a businessman is the vice president of the United States. Cheney was a well-known name in Washington's political scene. George W. Bush was his fourth U.S. President. Bush picked Cheney on July 20, 2000 to be his vice-presidential running partner, noting Cheney's judgment and insight. Dick Cheney served as the chief of staff for a president. He also served as an elected member of Congress as well as the secretary of defense. He is a true gentleman and has earned the respect of both Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney said he views his job as a trustworthy and discreet adviser to Bush's administration. Cheney was the first to accept the Republican vice-presidential nominating in 2007 stated that he was looking forward to serving under a president that is able to work across party lines and work with political rivals with goodwill and a common goal. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941 the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. In the age of thirteen, Richard moved his family across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper in the state of Casper where his father was the director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local soil conservancy district.
